Bank of America Charges Fee for Downloading to Quicken
By Internet Handholding @ 11:36 AM :: 1565 Views :: 0 Comments :: Article Rating :: Scams Fakes Cheats

I listened to a book recently called Gotcha Capitalism. The book was about how businesses make money off of you through hidden fees.

The author considered some of these fees criminal, actually a form of white collar crime.

The author identified banks as among the worst offenders.

I keep my mother's finances on Quicken. I use Quicken to do her taxes and track her investments.

My mother keeps her own checkbook and does not use Quicken.

On her latest bank statement from Bank of America, there was an unfamiliar $10 fee. My mother went over to the bank and the person there told her the fee was for using Internet access to download data to Quicken. They removed the fee this month, but we will see if they charge it again next week.

I download data from five different sources for her and a dozen different sources for me. Only Bank of America charges an Internet fee.
